Dearest You.
As another year comes to an end – do you wonder what’s ahead? If we could see that far and that deep – we probably wouldn’t want to. At the end of 2018 who could have thought what would take place in our life in 2019? Not us.
So at the end and the beginning, we stand on the known and the unknown.
This past year has been difficult but not wasted. I don’t lean on remembrance, so it’s preserved in a journal where God’s faithfulness is written over every page. Some, I’ve wanted to tear out but grateful for what’s hidden between the lines.
Last night I spoke to a few close to my heart and listened to theirs – they hoped the year had ended differently in order to have hope for the one ahead. I hope they listened, too . .
We don’t need a new year or a new decade – simply a new day. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion says my soul – therefore I will hope in Him. Lamentations 3
Instead of squinting to see what awaits us on an unknown path, may we look back (with twenty-twenty vision) on the past mercies of this year. When the entries in an old-discolored journal don’t align with my expectations – it’s really okay.
And so dearest you, wishing you a blessed new year as we reframe, reflect, and resolve to know what we know– His sovereign plan always works from front to finish.
The eyes of the Lord your God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. Deuteronomy 12:11

Your words are a beautiful balm. Thank you for sharing your heart.
Thank you, Michele – blessing and mercies for you this new day (and year) . . . love you!
I just love your articles. I rush to see what you write. Thankyou Jesus for Verna.
Thank you for visiting and your kind comment, Carolan . . . may your year be blessed with everyday mercy!
Thank you, Verna! I needed to hear what you’ve shared. I will be going through major change in the next few months—I’ve resigned the pastoral ministry I’ve been involved in for the past 7 years. Need to remember to take one day at a time and that His mercy is new every morning! Happy New Year to you!
Oh this must be a huge decision, Annalee – I’ll be praying as you transition one step at a time into this new place . . .
A beautiful post Verna. Happy New Year. Yes, and Happy New Day <3
Thank you for faithfully visiting here – and blessings on the year ahead, Liana!
Your words, Verna, have a depth of understanding and beauty. Strong and confident. With the eyes of the Lord always upon us, we can go forward in faith. Thank you.
And thank you Marcia for your kind confirmation – yes, we can always go forward knowing God’s eyes are fixed on the path ahead . . .
Thank you Marcia – your words are an encouragement as we walk together in faith!
Oh Verna, you did it again. Helping us to look back to move us forward and yes one day at a time. Love you, sister and friend❣️
Walking in today’s grace as we enter into a new place . . . so I thank you, dear-to-me-Jessie for continued encouragement. You’ve been a good mentor to many, certainly to me!
