At this swift moment there are about 28,276 minutes until Christmas and the month of December seems to come and go more quickly every year.
We need to capture the moments like treasures or His presence will get pushed behind the tree in the middle of the holiday rush.
We need a moment, a holy moment – to rekindle the wonder and splendor as we take a silent night to consider the magnitude of what happened in the real life nativity recorded in the gospel of Luke. Angel visits prepared for the wondrous – old priest Zachariah and his barren wife Elizabeth were blessed with baby John, the forerunner to Mary’s Messiah-son. And Immanuel left His Father’s side to come to earth by way of a virgin womb. It all sounds impossible because it’s the wonderstruck mystery we somehow try and define.
Nothing is impossible with God Luke 1:37
This one-time human event altered our world. But sadly when our personal world is altered, we lose sight of the hope that came with Jesus to instill in the lives of generations forever.
Christmas can be one of the most difficult times of the year when hope becomes buried beneath our circumstances. So what can we do as the year comes to a close and we need great hope for another?
My prayer for you and for me is that we intentionally shift our gaze to the heavens and believe what we can only see in the silence of a holy night. Keep December close and take it with you every month into this coming year.
Within the broken pieces of life glitters the glory of hope with shards of wonder that can change our perspective when we take more than a glimpse on a midnight clear of what it’s truly about . .
My soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior. Luke 1:47
