Thirteen Hours Away

March 19, 2013 By Verna Bowman 25 Comments

At this moment, spring is about 13 hours away.  I'm writing at 6:13 am Tuesday. But, after 13 hours I’ll still be waiting for spring to look like spring.  What I’m seeing with the naked eye right now is snowdrops and robins, a mixed message. It can be the same within our life circumstances.  We may have the hope of spring, but … [Read more...]

Be . . .

March 9, 2013 By Verna Bowman 8 Comments

February 12, 2013 By Verna Bowman 4 Comments

What is? . . . starch squares or rounds made with potato flour, sugar, lard, and weighs in with 12 to 21 grams of fat?  We stand in bakery and grocery lines once a year for them . . . a fastnacht! A popular Pennsylvania tradition we celebrate in our area is Fastnacht Day. A German word meaning before the fast.  Fried bread … [Read more...]

His Word – My Hope

Surely I have composed and quieted my soul like a weaned child rests against his mother.
