Spring – Season of Hope

February 25, 2020 By Verna Bowman 2 Comments

Spring is a season of hope. No matter how mild the winter, this time every year we wait anxiously for the beginning of Spring and the “new” it brings. And it’s less than three weeks away!

Looking from my office window I’m not seeing a change in season yet – but assured it’s hidden within the mix of a robin perched on a naked branch – just waiting for the green.

Spring is a reminder that God is as faithful in the seasons of life as He is in the seasons He has created. Spring follows winter every time and always. It’s the same with what we experience – winter in our hearts won’t last forever if we choose to believe there is a hope and beauty of new beginnings.  In this we have not a finger-crossing hope, but a confident expectation that gives a view of the unseen.

There’s a verse in Psalm 27:13 that I cling to like a vine because it says we can have hope even when we’re dragging winter into a new season . . . I would have fainted if I had not believed to see the goodness of God in the land of the living.

But in the verses above, it tells how to keep from fainting . . . One thing I have asked of the Lord that I will seek after. That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life to behold the beauty of the Lord and to meditate in His temple. 27:4

The miracle of Easter ushered in with fastnachts and the weeks from Ash Wednesday to and through holy week tells a story of new life that is found in Jesus. It’s not a drive-by forty days, but the lasting result of spending time within the sacred space of His presence within each day – where He awaits in the chamber like a Bridegroom who prepares us in between two gardens to receive us as His pure and cherished Bride. That story.

May your forty-day journey to the cross be a time of fresh start to step away from the usual and discover more of Him and uncover more of you.  In whatever way you get there from ashes to lilies –  may it be personal and fruitful and life-changing.

My prayer for us . . . For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named according to the riches of His glory that He may grant you to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith – that you being rooted and grounded in love may have strength to comprehend what is the breadth and length and height and depth, to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge and that you may be filled with the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:14-19

Be blessed,
Verna

How reassuring, Verna, God brings the Seasons no matter what our world is dealing with. The song was very soothing and reassuring as well. Thank-you God bless this season of your life as well.

His Word – My Hope

And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.
