Imagine life without prayer.
A woman sits beside her dying daughter’s bedside. What can she do other than pray? She can’t put breath back within a fading body. She can’t hope for healing here or after. Only prayer.
Another woman cumbered with despair from a broken marriage, a wayward son, a lost job. When someone carrying the heaviness of life comes to us, we pray. We can’t fix it. Only prayer.
We are barraged by those who need prayer – every day.
And when we come to the end of ourselves, that’s all that’s there . . ourselves. Jesus didn’t leave us to fend for ourselves when He returned to heaven, so why do we try?
It’s a new day – we can pray! No one can remove it from our lives but us.
God smooths our paths, calms our storms, and carries us through the complexities of life. He will open the storehouse of heaven, but not without a prayer.
There is power in prayer. One prayer changed my life.
So, what if we couldn’t pray for protection, strength, wisdom, direction, comfort, joy, and miracles for our families, our friends, our nation, our strangers?
I don’t want to imagine.
We can tread the hallowed place because Jesus paid the price for us to have access to a holy God. The throne room is never closed.
There are times when life is simply out of control and we need a sacred time-out, to sit in the presence of the Presence. To know there is something greater.
If our Savior would not have gone to the cross, we could imagine life without a prayer. . . but instead we can live (and pray) today like “it is finished.”
Father in heaven, we praise You that we can enter into the throne room of grace because of Jesus. Your desire is a deep communion with Your children, and may our prayer be a sweet scent before You. Amen.

I’ve been doing a lot of praying and trying to not get stuck in fending for myself, which seems to be my automatic response. The praying is easy, but the silence is hard. Thank you for another beautiful writing!

Yes, praying is easy but silence is hard. . . I love how God speaks in so many ways (even silence!) Thank you, Mary!

Beautiful reminder that He wants us to pray, Verna…that it’s not bothering God. Thank you.

As hard as it is to believe, we know His sweet delight is to hear from His children . . . . about anything! Thanks, Vonda!

Thanks, Verna. I love it that the throne room is never closed. Where would we be without Jesus? God bless you.

Oh, I cringe to wonder, Donna . . . so grateful I have gone before His mighty throne with you many times, dear sister.

I love this…reminds me of a song…not surprising huh? “There is prayer. He sees our situation…remember John G?
So grateful we can pray and leave our burdens at His feet, knowing He is there…even when there is silence, we have His promises. Never will He leave nor forsake!
Hugs!
