We’ve all been there . . . we’ve all been in some kind of waiting place.
As I write, I’m sitting among the impatient, the hopeless, the worried, and those nervously chattering and pacing in order to do . . . something.
I’m sitting in a waiting room.
I’ve spent too much time in hospital waiting rooms due to health challenges in our family. Here in the too-familiar, too-crowded, too-bright waiting room I sit in the dark of yet another prognosis. I have the usual chair, in front of the usual window, looking out at the usual tree – except it’s taller now. Am I?
I’m hoping I’ve grown during the hesitations in life.
As far back as I can remember, life has been a recycled journey of trauma and trust. So, for me the waiting room has been more than a place where I wait to hear the outcome of a loved one’s procedure. Instead, it’s the classroom where God tests faith and devotion.
I’m baffled why I’ve needed to take so many tests. I guess the answer is because we never exit the same way we enter.
I can join the crowd, or I can redeem the time and learn. So, I learn to pray deep and believe deep.
If you can relate, you know a clock in the waiting room often stands still and that God’s timing is never seen on the face of a clock.
In Scripture there are countless examples of people waiting – patiently. Abraham waited twenty-five years for an old wife to give life to a promised son. Noah waited for floods to come and go. Mary and Martha had to wait.
Why? To see His righteous work in between the wait . . .
Abraham received the child, and nations. . . Noah saw the sunshine, and Mary and Martha saw their brother come to life.
The God of 11:59 always shows up before midnight. Every time.
Are you in the waiting room?
But they who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles. Isaiah 40:31

“God’s timing is never seen on the face of a clock.” Love that. Hate that. Love that. If you know what I mean. Rich words as always, Verna. Thanks!

I have been in many waiting rooms..literally and figuratively. We are currently in one right now. I am encouraged by current worship song…”we will overcome by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony”. Through this, YHWH has encouraged me that He loves me and is giving me a testimony about Himself and His intimate love and faithfulness. He has used your “waiting rooms” to encourage me and countless others.
Waiting with you…
Erin
